Will a school know how long you've been employed?

I’ve been working23+ hours a week during the school year and about 32+ over the summer since June 2010. Except I worked at my uncle’s store and was paid under the counter until the March 2011 when I was officially employed elsewhere.

I was going to put that I’ve been working 23+ hours a week since June 2010 on my app but if they ask for a pay stub or some evidence I have none except after March 2011. I don’t want them to think I’m lying or embellishing, but I want them to know how much/long I’ve been working. I really don’t want to have to write it in an essay, haha I have otherh things I’m reserving that space for.

so basically will they know?

Specify on your apps that you were unofficial from June 2010 til March 2011, then mention that you were “officially” hired after that.

This is quite common, actually, but in another form. For example, people generally don’t take leadership titles til junior/senior year, so on the common app, they might say “President (12), Treasurer (10,11), Member (9)” etc.
