Will a Strong International Background Help Me get into NU?

OK, my freshman and sophomore years, i was going through a lot of personal things, and ended my sophomore year with a 3.2 weighted GPA. NOT GOOD AT ALL FOR NORTHWESTERN. But my junior year (this year), I put in the work to get into Northwestern. I got over 250 service hours, and since I was in all IB classes (I’ve been in IB since 6th grade, MYP and Diploma), i went from a 3.3 weighted to a 4.3 and an unweighted of 3.1. But with 7 years of IB and two summers as a Student Ambassador, will I have a better chance of getting into Northwestern? I also got a 29 on my ACT, 1900 on my SAT.

Hi-It sounds like you have really worked hard to shift the way you handle your academic responsibilities-CONGRATULATIONS! The review of your application will include the weak start, and the upward trend-does that make it a viable application for NU, Brown or Dartmouth? That is a tough call. It would be easy to say these schools should be in your reach category-and to include others that could be considered matches/safeties. It will hold you well in the application to college process. Never say never-Go for it! G’Luck-APOL-a mom
