Will a truly AMAZING insightful rec. make your admission?

<p>Just wondering because I’m very close to my guidance over the last few years and I tell her everything and she knows alot about me, much more than just my grades. When rec time comes, I know she’ll write a truly amazing rec for me that’s very insightful on who I am as a person.</p>

<p>So I’m wondering for Ivies (HYPSM) will a amazingly insightful rec be the tipping factor in the process if you are on the borderline in other things.</p>

<p>Better recommendations tend to provide specific anecdotes that may make the applicant very appealing. A glowing recommendation would not necessarily be a major factor because there are many glowing recommendations.</p>

<p>If the recommendation is as insightful as you say, it certainly may play a factor, but it is nothing I would bank on.</p>
