My school has thing called citizenship, well I got a “U” in it and I am wondering how it will affect me.

It is very bad, especially if it ends up on your transcript. Maybe you should ask for a copy of one?

I assume the “U” means “unsatisfactory”?

Yes “U” is unsatisfactory, I’m going to email my counselor right now see if he knows. Hopefully I can get the teacher to change it to atleast an N.

Lol what did you do anyways? Normally teachers give out U’s for cheating and fighting and stuff…

It’s better to be honest w/ colleges if you did something really bad…speaking of colleges, what class did you get the grade in? It’s better if it’s in, say, PE instead of Math

Talk with people alot and I’m disruptive. I don’t know, first quarter I got a “85%” in the participation category of the class, which the teacher said himself was “teacher fudge points”, and second semester I got a 91%, so obviously there was an improvement. Maybe I can ask for an N or make a deal or something.

Well…there’s not much else you can do…

Anyways, if that ‘U’ stays on your transcript, you should probably explain to whichever colleges you’re applying to…as I said, a ‘U’ indicates something like stealing or cheating…not good

At my kids’ school, quarter letter grades are accompanied by marks like that for effort, but they do not show up on transcripts, just the semester ABC grades.

Colleges generally don’t care about grades in non-classes.

^i think citizenship grades accompany regular class grades normally

I’ve never heard of them outside of grade school.

Well, they accompany regular grades in classes. Like, you could have a “B+” in the class and then somewhere off to the right you can have grades for things like Work Habits that range from O (Outstanding) to S (Satisfactory) to U (Unsatisfactory) for each class. I’m not sure if that shows up on transcripts though but if it does explain it.
