I Just wanted to know if an ATTEMPTED sexual assault conviction will hurt my chances of getting into Duke?

I have a 4.9 GPA, 2350 SAT Score, Multiple extracurriculars. I am a model student, except I was accused of rape. Hopefully this wont be a barrier to entry, I’m really looking forward to spending time with like-minded peers.

Duke’s admissions policy heavily favors students who have been successful in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. An unsuccessful attempt at something as simple as a sexual assault will be regarded as a failure and will probably count heavily against you.

I would suggest that you make a second attempt and try to improve your performance. Perhaps Princeton Review offers a sexual assault review course – I don’t know.

If your attempt failed because of some physical disability or psychological problem – such as an inability to outrun and overpower little girls – you might want to use your essay to explain how this challenge has impacted your life and what you have done to cope with it.

Good luck with your application, althoug I suspect you may find that UNC-Chapel Hill is a better fit for you.

so is this a conviction? or just an accusation? or is attempted sexual assault/rape even an indictable charge? I thought you can only be indicted for attempting stuff like murder and otherwise, it’s basically black and white (ie attempted rape = sexual assault).
