Will AP Bio or AP Chem look better in my Harvard application?

I took regular Bio in freshman year and Honors Chem sophomore year. I personably prefer chemistry but I feel like AP Bio is a better choice for me. Since I took regular Bio, AP Bio might be a better class to take because it will prove Harvard (and other competitive colleges) that I can do well in a high-level Bio class. Please help me with this decision.

The Harvard AOs will have no preference for one over the other. Consult Magic B Ball, flip a coin, pick the better teacher, or the class that generally gets a higher percentage of 5’s, or whatever parameter of your choice.

Intended major? If it is neither chemistry nor biology (or a major that involves more of one or the other), then it really doesn’t matter. In the same way taking AP Bio shows you can do well in a high level bio class, taking AP Chem shows you will do well in high level chemistry class. I think you answered your own question when you said you prefer chemistry.

If “AP Bio might be a better class to take because it will prove Harvard (and other competitive colleges) that I can do well in a high-level Bio class.”, why wouldn’t AP Chem prove that you can do well in a high-level Chem class?

Unless you’re applying as a Bio or Chem major, it doesn’t matter. And even then, it probably matters little - they are, at best, intro Freshman-level classes.

If you’re more interested in Chemistry then you will probably perform better in AP Chem, and that’s much more important.

The general rule for colleges asking for 4 years of lab sci, is: bio, chem, and physics, then one of them at a higher level.

No one AP choice is what “impresses” them. It’s the whole transcript and the way you challenged yourself. Or not.

OP hasn’t check in in a week.
