Will applying later on diminish my chances at recieving aid?

My ED school results come out dec. 15th. My original plan was to work on my RD apps until then, but hold off on applying. This way, if I get into my ED school, I would save around $800 or so in fees.

BUT, i’ve heard that the sooner you get your application in, the better your chances are at receiving a good FA package. In this case, the $800 is negligible compared to what I would save sending apps earlier on, say now.

I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation. What should I do?

For rolling admission schools, yes this is true. For schools with set deadlines, turn in FA information by the priority deadline and you will be fine.

@entomom: Thank you, that was exactly what I needed to hear. I’m going to apply to my rolling schools, and hold off on submitting the rest of my RD apps until post-ED.

Be sure to check the individual schools. Some will have priority merit aid deadlines.
