I want to quit band. I’ve lost interest in it but my parents keep telling me to keep playing. Don’t give me answers like “Do what you love” or “Let your heart guide the way” that will not help me decide what to do. I want to go to college for Zoology aka the study of animals. Will it matter if I quit band? Will band help me get into collage or is it just some extra curricular? Please help me!
It will not matter if you quit band. You will still get to go to college. Yes, it is just some EC (or more often a part of the curriculum)
If you want to major in Zoology, it shouldn’t matter if you’re in band or not. Now, if you’re a “leader” in band and have been in band for years, the consistency of sticking with it might be a plus on your application, but band in and of itself shouldn’t have a great effect. Ultimately it is up to you. I agree with the above commenter. With or without band, you will still go to college.
