Will being Out-Of-State hurt me?

State: New Jersey
Asian Female
Medium Competitive Public School (around ~340 ppl)
School doesn’t rank. I’m pretty sure I’m in the top 10%

SAT: 2120
GPA: uh…around 3.8 UW
ACT: Took is today…not feeling the science section.
SAT II: 700 Chem 750 Math II (retake next Sat.) 790 Chinese w/Listening 620 US History (wasn’t feeling well that day. I got 5 on the APUSH test)

I want to major in business…or maybe economics.

We’ll need to know more information… Your test scores are pretty good, but keep in mind, they don’t count for much. Your GPA, your EC, and your essays are what get you in to Cal.

Your major doesn’t really matter. Just apply inside L&S.

EC: My EC are categorized as three parts: Business-related, Photography-related, and Community Service related.

Business:
Future Business Leaders of America (10th-12th grade) -Vice President (12th grade)
International Affairs Club (9th-12th grade)

Photography:
Photography Club (10th-12th) President from 11th to 12th grade
Yearbook (9th-12th) 11th-12th - Senior Editor

Community Service: around 250+ hours total
Big Brothers Big Sisters (10th-12th)
Honors of Service Society (11th-12th)
Other Community Service Projects

I interned at a Health Insurance Broker’s office in summer of '07
I went to a summer program (Economics for Leaders) at Cornell this past summer. This program is semi-prestigious. (Paid $200 for the whole week with room and food included)
From August '08 to Present: Working at Hollister. Inc (4-13 hours per week)

I have many other awards…too lazy to list now…(AP Scholar with Distinction…and Regional Awards…ect.)

So is Berkeley considered a safety, match, or reach for me?

Your EC’s seem pretty good. But since you’re out of state, your GPA and SAT scores need to be pretty high. What exactly is your GPA, weighted and unweighted?

I don’t know about unweighted. Weighted is about 4.02 or something…bad sophomore year. (I did improve from 3.8 W to 4.11 W from Sophomore to Junior year though)
