Will BU rescind my acceptance if I'm kicked out of NHS?

i’ve been in national honor society since the end of sophomore year… i’ve been treasurer since last year (11th grade). i’ve been accepted to boston university, and already sent in my enrollment deposit.

my advisor signed my project proposal when i handed it to her in november, so i figured “good to go”. my project was a pet supplies drive for the local animal shelter, and it went through all of last week.
i gave her my completion form today and she refused to sign it. why?
“no one was manning the box in the lobby during the day”

the thing is… i manned it in the mornings, and after school. it’s impossible for me to man it during the day - i’m in school!
the project has been completed otherwise - i have a box full of pet supplies that i will bring to the shelter next week.

because she has not signed the form, i basically “haven’t done” a project… which means i will more than likely be kicked out of NHS.

i wrote “treasurer of NHS” on my college application… if i get kicked out, will they rescind my acceptance?!

PLEASE help, i’m freaking out over this!

How will they know you got kicked out?

i’m required to send my senior transcript at the end of the year.

anyone? /:

it’s just really frustrating that i’ve worked as hard as i have, for the past 4 years, and now it’s all at risk of going to waste just because my advisor wouldn’t sign a required form, because of something that she never specified in my proposal.

You are SERIOUSLY overthinking this. BU considers you NHS involvement as much as its concerned whether you’re left handed.

And I seriously doubt anything about NHS is on your transcript. Every one I have ever seen only is a list of the title of the classes you took and what grade you got in it.

thank you both so much!
this has definitely brightened up my night a little… i’m still going to try and talk to her about it tomorrow, but i was just really afraid that if she still doesn’t listen to me - and has me kicked out - then it might affect my admissions decision.

you’ve definitely raised my hopes, thanks!

No, they won’t.

You should deliver the stuff to the shelter and make sure someone acknowledges that you did. Then you could write a respectful letter to the teacher, with a copy to the principal and the BU admissions office resigning from NHS because you feel that you project was complete, have fulfilled your obligation, and if that’s not good enough for NHS, you don’t want to be a part of it.

You STILL will not get rescinded. You WERE the treasurer. You didn’t misrepresent.

Don’t commit a disciplinary infraction, and don’t get any Ds or Fs.

You are a senior. You rule! Take back your life!

Most people don’t do a thing as part of NHS. 10% of the school is in there and not everyone can have individual achievements.

Your teacher sounds a bit odd. Tell her you are going to college and whether she signs a piece of paper or not does not mean a thing to you. You feel accomplished and fulfilled due to your service.

If I were you, I’d spend the time thinking of the best facepalm thing I could manage and do it. NHS? Really? Worth next to nothing. You’re about to graduate HS. You won’t think about NHS again until YOUR OWN KIDS wonder if they should join. Worry about NHS?

Pfft… (in as contemptuous a tone as I can muster)

Enrollment deposit = BU has another paying customer for another 4 years. Just don’t land in jail between now and September and you’ll be fine.

Your advisor is very odd… Who would penalize a student for taking on a project to benefit others? Were you supposed to man the donation box during the day because you could get some people to donate more? Like >>>“Hey Tyler! Can you go get some kitty litter from your locker and bring it down for the animal shelter?” Or to make sure nobody takes anything? “Hey…Mr. Smith! Those used towels were for the dogs at the animal shelter, not the swim team!” Student projects are learning opportunities and now you’ve learned one more thing >>> Some people make no sense, whatsoever.

fortunately i went and talked to her again today and i will not be getting kicked out… i just have to do another pet supplies drive at 2 basketball games next week, where i will physically be WITH the boxes, because that’s so important to her.

thanks everyone for easing my nerves!
