Will colleges like this?

Today at school, they announced that I was in the top 5% of the 120,000 African Americans that took the PSAT. I’m a senior, but it took this long to receive the results. I was wondering if colleges will like this a lot, or will they just disregard it as “just another award”?

I’m applying to mostly top schools, so will this even matter to them?

Also, I can't remember the title exactly. They just received the information, and I will get the official info soon. Also, they're going to announce it at the end of the year banquet for academic awards and scholarships.

My 2nd question was: are there any schools that offer scholarships for this?

Nope, it won't matter much.

Even the National Merit Semifinalist status will not matter much.
If you're applying to the TOP TOP schools.

Some schools will offer scholarships for Semifinalist status. Ask your counselor about it.

Congratulations - nice accomplishment. It certainly won't hurt to note it on your college applications!

It won't hurt, but it won't be like, say, the RSI to colleges. I believe you will get some sort of reward for this. I believe there's a scholarship associated as well - specifically for African Americans who do well on the PSATs. It's kind of like national merit.

If you're applying to Harvard, I think lacking it might look bad, so by all means put it on all your college applications.

I think it's very good, and you should include it on your app. But I think your SAT score matters more. How'd you do and was it consistent with your PSAT score predictors?

"But I think your SAT score matters more. How'd you do and was it consistent with your PSAT score predictors?"

My SAT was 100 points higher than my PSAT. My M and V were 1250 on the PSAT. My SAT was 1350. I'm retaking it in Nov for 1400+.

what was ur psat score for math, verbal, and writing?
(i wanna see if i have a chance in the national achievement scholarship.)

Not very good

M and V were 125 and W was 62

SAT: 1350 (don't think that matters but I'll just include it)
