Will EC length affect my college chances

Hello, as you guys can tell by my username I really want to get into competitive uc’s like UCSD/UCI/UCLA/UCB. My grades are competitive and my PIQ’s will most likely be good, I have already began prepping for them. However, most of my main extracurriculars took place this year (11th grade) and thus I have not been doing them for a long time. Will this negatively affect my chances of being accepted?

You cant wind the clock backwards, right? Just do the best you can for the years you have been able to do these ECs…and do them for enjoyment…that’s what matters most.

@Gumbymom commented on your other thread about your ECs.

IIRC, the CSUs don’t weigh ECs as much as the UCs do. @gumbymom can verify this.

Focus on how you present yourself on your application, rather than worrying about whether your ECs are adequate or not. There’s advice on your other thread with resources to help you understand how to approach the PIQs and EC section of the app. For ECs, it’s all about presenting what you learned from each EC and the impact you had. The UC app has relatively generous character limits for ECs; make use of this! :slightly_smiling_face:

Depending upon which CSU campuses you are targeting, some may consider EC hours/week (cannot go into detail about EC’s) and some do not consider EC’s in their application review.
