I have 2 uncles on my mom and dad’s side that went to NYU. One went for a Masters degree at Stern and another got a Masters Degree from the School of Dentistry. I’m interested in Tisch.

Also, I see that there is a program with Clive Davis’ name in it. One of the uncles is long time friends with him in the music business and works alongside him. So yeah, just wondering if any of this will help at all…I might apply for Fall 2009.

The Clive Davis thing is huge…I don’t think there’s a spot for uncles or Aunts on the applications (I know there is for Parents, siblings…maybe grandparents)

The Department of Recorded Music is named after Clive Davis. That doesn’t mean Mr. Davis himself sits on the admissions committee. Unless he personally puts in a word for you, I doubt it’ll make any difference.

Okay I understand now. I don’t know Clive Davis personally(only met him once) so he wouldn’t write any sort of recommendation for me. And I believe having an uncle affiliated with Davis write a recommendation would be unacceptable because well, he’s a relative even though he IS at the top of the music industry coughCEOofBMGcough lol

Anyways, I have one other question in relation to the questions I’ve asked previously.

I’m assuming there will be an “Additional Information” section on the application. Should I put down the 2 alumnis? I think putting down the Clive Davis thing will look weird like I’m bragging or something.

the admission committee will only find you all that more interesting if your admission decision have some sort of impact on Clive Davis. Extra stuff never hurts though.

get both relatives and clive davis to write you some ****
if clive can’t personally write you one, have his secretary write it and have him like sign it or something

it definately will help out, be sure to visit

People as important as Clive Davis, or in my friends case, a former chairman of big finance firm, never write their own letters. They typically interview/chat with you, and take some notes about your strengths, give them to the secretary, she writes it and the man himself signs it. That gets forwarded to their contact at the school, and your application gets flagged if its important enough.
