I plan on taking the act right before ed/ea. Consider the following:
I have an average SAT to get in a particular college. Using the automatic score report, I take the ACT and have them automatticaly send the score to the colleges. My question is, will the ACT affect my chances or will my chances be based solely on my much better SAT scores.

No, most schools will use the “best” score to consider you for admission.

You could just send in the SAT scores; unless some schools want both.

So then if I scored a 2000 on my SAT and a 20 on my ACT, they will just ignore the ACT score?

Yes, they will. They will think you were probably sick.
