will having high scores compared to my HS help?

the school i attend is pretty good for the top ten students or so. other than that, many kids get a really subpar education. i happen to have scored the highest on my standardized tests in my school. i got a 1900 on the sats and a 30 (2000 sat equivalent) on the act. when i look at the school profile sent out to colleges, the average sat scores are all in either the mid-high 400s or low 500s. will having much better scores (in comparison to my HS) help me in any way in getting into college?

i’ve applied to boston college, johns Hopkins, lafayette, NYU, villanova, tcnj, rutgers (in for pharmacy), and haverford. will these great schools notice me for being the best in my high school?
thanks guys!

It’s likely. With your application is sent a school profile which includes demographic information (what amt of kids qualify for free/reduced lunch – which indicates income level), % of kids who graduate, % of kids who go on to 4 year college. This helps colleges determine the relative offerings of your HS to give a better context to evaluate applicants. Your parents’ education and income level are factors here too.

Not all colleges look at these. Many do however.
