Will I be able to get a review?

So, as it stands, I have two really good offers and one not so great one. NYU Polytechnic is giving me a gap and loans of about 22k, while Northwestern and a state public are offering 6k in gap/loans. The problem is that I would like to attend Poly, as it is closer to home and more easily accessible for me. I also will be in NYC, where I know a few people.

Do you think I could ask Poly for a review of my package? (federal EFC=0)

Nope. You are mixing 2 different methodologies.

Northwestern uses a combination of Federal and institutional methodologies to distribute aid. Gives need based aid and states that they will meet your full demonstrated need. They willuse the fafsa to determine your eligibility for federal aid and the CSS profile to grant institutional aid. So even if you may have a 0 efc you are eligible for full federal aid, but once you add in information from the profile, you may end up not having a “0” efc. Northwestern also states that loans are part of their finanical aid package.

NYU considers the federal methodology (FAFSA) only in determining financial need. They are upfront in stating that they do not meet full financial need. They are also notorious for not giving out good financial aid.

For all intents and purposes, it sounds as if Northwestern has given you a great package. Take the northwestern package and move along.
