I got just very depressed after receiving january sat score.
so my highest sat score so far is 2050/2400, 1410/1600…
I don’t know why I always do so poorly on sats…

my sat subject test scores are
chemistry: 790
math 2: 760
math 1: 760
french:680

my gpa is 4.0/4.0 (school doesn’t weight gpa)

my ib predicted score is 39/42 (w/o bonus points)

my class rank is 4/~400

The universities that I applied are
Penn (Wharton) - applied ED and then deferred
Dartmouth
Columbia
Princeton
Stanford
Chicago
Northwestern
NYU Stern…

I’m unhooked… at all

yeah… I didn’t apply to any safety schools cuz I’m planning to take a year off anyway… but I really want to defer a year after getting accepted.

my essays and short answers were very sincere and touching.
teachers’ recommendations are stellar.

my extracurricula activities are a little bit higher than the average applicants for the universities I applied to.

Is SAT the most important factor of admission??
Is there no chance I will get accepted into Columbia, Dartmouth, Stanford or Penn???

I know that posting this thread at CC doesn’t mean anything and it won’t change anything… but… I just can’t stop thinking of it!!! :(

Stop worrying, you’re a strong candidate. It may not have been prudent to only apply to those highly competitive colleges, but I’d be surprised if you got rejected from all of them.

If you’re planning on taking a year off, you might go ahead and take the ACT anyway. Then, if you’re happier with your ACT score, you might reapply to a couple high-priority places during your gap year.

thank you for your advice, gadad. I was thinking about doing that, too. but I really hope to get into somewhere I like, so that i wouldn’t have to reapply. I want to relax and focus on other things than applying to universities during my gap year
Also, this whole admission process, waiting and pressure have worn me down so much, and I’m not sure whether I would be able to endure it again. even if I wouldn’t have a choice if I have nowhere to go…

Letitsnow, dont give up hope, you never know with college admissions. I think your GPA and IB diploma compensate for your SAT score which is not debilitating by any means. If your essays were interesting and your interviews went well you are in good shape. Good luck!
