Hi. I am a High School Student currently attending St. Joseph High School in Westchester, IL. I haven't been the best I could have been in high school. Right now I have a 2.8 GPA. I finished with a 1.7 GPA as a freshman, and then I cleaned up my act, and recoved to get a 2.5 GPA as a Sophomore. With only my Senior Year to go, I look to improve my GPA into the 3. range, and I also would like to do something in the video game industry.

For awhile in elementary school, I got mostly Cs, and sometimes Bs. I didn't apply myself to school until my Sophomore Year.

Hi! It's kind of a coincidence...I'm a now-senior at St. Ignatius and live just a couple miles away from St. Joseph :)
It's going to be difficult to get your GPA in the 3 range, but you can do it if you apply yourself (I know everybody hates hearing that, but it's true). You can definitely get it in the low 3 range, and it'll help if you are taking honors or AP courses. Obviously, all of the top selective schools are out for you, but there are still a lot of great college options for you. Consider looking into large state schools if you want a big school, or small up-and-coming schools that need students. A 2.8 isn't terrible, but it's a big improvement from a 1.7. Make sure you talk about how you learned to get your act together in your applications. It'll show that you've really turned yourself around. Congrats on wanting to do better!! You can do it!

You could also consider doing a year of classes at a community college or at a voc-tech school to establish credibility as a driven college student earning a solid GPA base, and then seek transfer to a school that offers a program specific to your field of study. Good luck.
