Will I be fine with a 50 point SAT score drop?

So I took my first SAT after preparing and got a 1530 (790 Math 740 Reading). I took a school mandated one after without studying and got a 1480 (750 Math 730 Reading so I can’t superscore).

How’s this drop going to affect my college chances? I wanted to apply to colleges like Michigan, USC, Northwestern (that level). And to the colleges that don’t need all scores, can I send in just my 1530 math and readings?

Thanks.

If the schools don’t require all scores, this certain seems to be the smart thing to do. Yes, College Board allows you to selectively send scores.

Not sure why you would put USC and Michigan in the same league as Northwestern. Northwestern is ranked #10, ahead of 3 of the Ivies. USC is #22. Michigan is #27. Fine universities, don’t get me wrong, but not the same tier as Northwestern.

Unless you are applying to one of the few colleges that require all scores, yes, you can pick and choose what scores to send. Double check with your guidance counselor whether the school-mandated SAT scores will go on your transcript. In that case, colleges will see them anyway. Most colleges will still consider only the highest scores (check each one’s web site), so you should be okay.
