Hey i know that i have to sign up for the SSS to get qualified for the FAFSA. But the thing is, i am applying early decision to cornell and i am turning 17 in late november (after Fafsa deadline), and i wont be eledgible to sign up until next year, does that mean i will get denied my FAFSA?

You need to check your deadline information. You cannot complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA before January 1st 2009 as it is not available before then. Do not make the mistake of completing the 2008-2009 FAFSA and thinking it will work for federal aid for the 2009-2010 school year - it will not. Perhaps the deadline is for CSS/profile?

If you are not old enough for SSS you should not be penalized. I believe you can answer yes to the FAFSA question and they will sign you up automatically. There were a couple of posts about this previously. Try posting another thread with the age issue in the title and maybe one of the posters who posted last year about this issue will see it.

My son started school at 17 so I know this one. You answer yes to the FAFSA question and then when you hit 18 you get something in the mail and still have to go online and sign up.
If you answer no to the FAFSA question you will get denied Federal financial aid.
