(by colleges I mean NYU, UCSD and Pepperdine)
I’ve been having a really hard time this year like I had hard time even going to school. I have almost 19 absences so far, most of them are excused but 4 of them are not because my school has this policy that if a student is absent for more than 14 days due to illness , he or she needs to bring in a doctor’s note for every absences.
But I think those absences will be excused soon because I got a doctor’s note to prove I’m going through hard time dealing with anxiety and depression and can miss school.
Anyways, since I’ve been out of class for so many days I have a lot of missing assignments and my grades dropped a lot. I have one C, one D, and one F. But those are mostly because of my missing assignments so I think I could bring those grades up.
But I might end up with a C or even a D in AP Calc BC. The material just got so much harder than last semester and with all those absences and things I’m going through, I just don’t think I can bring up that grade to a B…
My counselor said I just need to pass AP Lit and gov to graduate, and if I need (and end up with a C or worse in Calc), she will write to the colleges explaining why I have bad grades.
So…long story, but would I be rescinded from those colleges if I get C or a D in one class?
A D could result in being rescinded. The more important issue is if your anxiety and depression continue in college you will have problems there. I hope you are receiving therapy to help you deal with it.
@TomSrOfBoston I just started getting therapy and I hope I get better before I go to college…Would they reconsider if I explain to them my situations with a doctor’s note? Thanks.
This is a situation that requires the intervention of your school counselor. See him or her immediately. You could be rescinded.
Whoa. We’re in such a similar situation. All I have to do now is to pass AP Lit and Gov to graduate too, but I have a feeling I won’t be able to make it. I have been trying to get help as well and told that I should take it slow starting with CC perhaps in summer just to get my GED or whatever it is. I hope we both will get out of this rut!
@Lindagaf I talked to my counselor like a month ago about my issues and she told me she would write to the schools if needed…would that be enough? And thanks for your reply.
@jackinthecar Whoa. I so get you. I just need to pass two classes and do half as good as I’ve been doing for past 4 years but I don’t think I can make it…Yeah people have been telling me that if i’m struggling this much maybe I should consider going to CC or something. I really hope we can get through this and just be okay. Thanks for your reply!
