Well it’s certainly not going to help. But that being said it should not make or break an application but if you are right on the bubble of acceptance it might hurt you.

Did you put your race down on the application?

I didnt submit it yet. But as of now im ticked as Asian > Filipino

I wouldn’t put it down if I were you. I read in a book that if you are likely to be discriminated because of your race (if you are white or Asian) just avoid putting it down. It can’t hurt to not tick that box.

the don’t discriminate base on someone race. The reason the ask for race is for statistical data. If your going to get reject, it was because ur not qualified and not ur race.

Colleges do not hold it against applicants who do not put down their race.

" I read in a book that if you…"

I read in a book that one should form their opinion based on broader research.

I know a few filipinos that have spanish surnames…are you one of those? maybe you’re hispanic

“the don’t discriminate base on someone race. The reason the ask for race is for statistical data. If your going to get reject, it was because ur not qualified and not ur race.”

This isn’t correct. Racial discrimination is very much alive and well in college admissions.

i dont think being a minority will hate someone admission chance.

You’ll be evaluated in the context of your opportunities. If you have no overriding factor (athlete recruit, super science prodigy, URM, etc.) then you’ll be compared with others in the same category. If you do, then you’ll be evaluated amongst those in that pool. Plz read this:

I don’t call that discrimination. Others do however.
