My S got into Columbia ED. I may know a little. What are your SAT scores? Columbia is keen on diversity, plus scores. Go for the high scores on SAT. Then apply ED. Reasonable chance. But next year is going to be very difficult given the numbers. Good luck.

I took the SAT the first time and I got 700V/740W/760M

I am planning to retake it again.

In response to bipolarbear, if you read what I posted, I only have my Euro AP Score since I took it my Sophomore Year. My Junior Year AP scores haven’t come out…

As for why my GPA is at 3.7…
Please keep in mind that I go to one of the top school’s in the nation and I do consider my courseload as one of the hardest.
I did well my freshman year, but I had a drop my sophomore year (to about a 3.5), which brought down my GPA. This year, I’ve maintained about a 3.6-3.7

Is a 3.7 that bad considering that school I go to…they don’t weigh GPAs or anything like that

Well, it’s not grate that BOTH your GPA and SAT are on the low side. If you get your scores up and take a really challenging courseload next year, that would greatly boost your chances, but still it’s very hard to predict.

Um…you didn’t spell ‘great’ right, but whatever.

My Senior Year Courseload:
AP Physics C (E/M)
Multivariable Calculus
Senior English Electives (College-Level…Required)
Art Electives to finish up Requirments
AP US History

Btch, it was a typo, btch.
I could flaunt my much better SAT scores at you, but I won’t, b*tch.
Oh, and that looks like a good courseload.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come off as a B****. But I’d really appreciate it if you could stay away from using that kind of language with people that you don’t know. The whole reason people post on this forum is so they can get honest advice, and not attitude from people. No one is here to flaunt their statistics.

Throughout my time on these forums, I’ve noticed that people only have an attitude when they post in the Columbia boards. I hope people like s snack over here aren’t fair representations of the entire Columbia population; else, I wouldn’t want to go to a school full of elitist jerks. Just my $0.02.

1) Ghaszaszh is mad because he was rejected (or waitlisted or something)

2) it doesnt really look like you are “passionate” about anything. if i’m wrong then please tell us but otherwise i am forced to say you have a slim chance

In fact skyraylor, I am passionate about many things, mainly science as I am hoping to study biology/chemistry or go pre-med in college. I have done many things in the Science field and to expose my knowledge and experience in the medical field. Firstly, my freshman summer, I volunteered 120 hours as a Science Teacher for Underpriveleged Inner City children, helping to organize and teach a general science curriculum.

Furthermore, I have been a member of my school’s science olympiad team since my freshman year, winning many regional and state awards including 2nd places in both protein modeling and oceanography.

Even more, I’ve volunteered since my freshman at my local hospital, volunteering over 200 on a cancer ward. I am also going to Singapore this summer as an intern at the national hospital to do some research and job shadowing in a child cancer ward since cancer is what I am interested in studying.

As for my essay, I am planning to write about the time I saw someone pass away in front of me at the hospital. It was an odd experience and peculiar in many ways; you would have to read my essay.
