Will I get into these schools?

Ok so my top schools are Georgetown, notre dame, Johns Hopkins, tufts, Amherst, and swarthmore
I have a 1880 sat and hav not taken the act
I have a 4.0 unweighted gpa and a 5.2 weighted one
I take all IB classes and have straight As
My ECs are:
Varsity soccer and tennis (I don’t want to play in college)
Newspaper club
Forensic team
Lead in the musical
Chess club
Member of the youth coalition board which is a state committee that influences policy dealing with mental health
I volunteer at a homeless shelter
I sing in my church choir
I volunteer for a cancer organization
I am on another committee that helps troubled youth in my city
I started a program in my school that raises awareness for mental illness

I know my test isn’t good but I have yet to take the acts which I plan on doing in the summer. I am currently a junior. Another thing is I repeated my junior year and transferred from a public school to a private school. What do you think are my chances?

There is no guarantee, but in all likelihood, you will get rejected by every school here. They are all insanely selective. Don’t waste energy dreaming about these schools. Don’t set yourself up for heartbreak. Find some high match schools and focus there. You are clearly a strong student, but most students applying are.

Two things jump out immediately. The first is your SAT. For the schools you mention, you’re not close to competitive. The second is that you say you repeated your junior year. Can you elaborate? Was it because of academic performance? If so, how is that consistent with a unweighted 4.0?

No it wasn’t it was personal issues (bullying) but unweighted it would probably for all 3 years at my old school be a 3.9 and weighted a 4.3. This year at my new school, I have a 4.0 and weighted of 5.2. I plan on studying and taking the acts in June. I’m not happy with my scores though and I think I can do better. So 4 things:

  1. What is the limit on how many sats I can take?
  2. If I do good on my acts will it cancel out my sats?
  3. What sat and acts should I strive for in order to be in the competitive range
  4. I also had a great uncle who went to notre dame, and both of my sisters went to Johns Hopkins, will that help me?
    Thanks
  1. As many as you care to take.
  2. You only send the scores you want to send, whether that be the SAT or ACT scores.
  3. You can look up the test percentiles for each of the schools listed, but they all fall in the range of ≈ 670 (25th %ile) / 760 (75th %ile) for each section or a 30 / 33 ACT composite. Considering the lower quartile usually has some hook, you'll want to fall in at least the top half if not quarter range of test scores so you'll really need to bring up your scores.
  4. Depends if the school considers legacy. However, remember that legacy is in no way a replacement for good test scores, gpa, ecs, etc, so don't take it to mean too much.

so if i can get like a 30 or 31 on the act, do you think I will have a chance at georgetown? my essays would be about how i wanted a stronger education and deemed my public school as not giving me that? Oh and what about boston university? Could I get in there now without the act score?
