Will I get into top 20 schools?

I’m Paul, a sophmore at a top New England Prep School. I really would like to go to the Ivy League, especially Princeton. If someone could let me know if I have an remote shot to get in, that would be awesome.

Grades

Freshman Year Grades were 1 A, 2 A-, 1 B+ (was in the hardest class in the school) and a B.

Sophmore Year: 3 A-, 2 B+

My school has no GPA nor class Ranking

EC’s

Sports (3 season athlete)

Varsity Football (started as sophmore since im 6’7 250)
JV Basketball
Varisty Track and Field (was named All League as Freshman)

Other

State Champion member of the Speech Team
Section Editor of Newspaper
Student Government Rep
Student Activities Rep
Film Society
Model UN
Public Issues Club

Community Service

Teach English to immigrants (who speak Spanish) 3 nights a week

Internships

I have an internship this summer (low-level) with Fidelity Investments Spain

My Top Schools are

Princeton
Harvard (10 kids from my school get in every year)
Brown (my school has a connection as well)
UPenn
Stanford
Duke
UVA
Williams
Swarthmore
Boston College
Northwestern
U Chicago

You’ll proly get into 1-2 off that list.

Which ones?

You have the best chance at NW, U Chicago, BC, or UVA, but it’s still impossible to predict.

any predictions on SAT results? PSATs? etc…

Predicted SAT: 2100-2400

My varsity football coach has told me that I have the chance of getting recruited by the Ivy League due to my size and skill, if I kepp on working hard. What do typical Ivy recruits get for grades?

if you can manage a score above 2200 I’l bet you can get into an ivy or two.

And if I get recruited does that help me at Ivies?

if ten kids get into harvard a year from your school, do everything you can to be one of those ten kids! lol

yes it helps a lot, my cousin has less than perfect GPA (but is a good student) and is being recruited by ivy leagues for football;

Okay, so could someone on list each college I like and put their opinion (i.e: yes, maybe, or no) If someone could do that for me, that would be awesome. Thanks for all your help!

Without your SAT scores I think this is pretty much meaningless but here goes:

Princeton-average chance, if you could get recruited I would definitely say maybe
Harvard (10 kids from my school get in every year)- same here
Brown (my school has a connection as well)- maybe
UPenn-probably
Stanford- see princeton and harvard
Duke- maybe
UVA-yes
Williams- don’t know much
Swarthmore- same as williams
Boston College-yes
Northwestern-yes
U Chicago -yes

Honestly the place I can see you getting rejected from are princeton and harvard. The others you have a really high chance of getting in, but as always do not be surprised by a rejection. G’luck.

You’re a match 4 UVA

Just keep playing that football!!

it’s hard to say where you’ll get in, and even with the grade and extracurric’s, everyone applying to these schools is of the same calibar so it comes down to your essays, recc’s, and interviews…i was accepted to duke, northwestern, and boston college (which isn’t top 20 by the way) and denied at yale, but i know people u were also accepted at duke and denied at davidson, a small l.a. college, or people accepted at harvard, denied stanford, etc,

You’re on track so far, at this early stage. Your ECs show some leadership, so try to keep that up. Do research on athletic recruitment- there are lots of websites, and there are even consultants. If you can be recruited by an Ivy, it will help a lot. Also, consider applying early decision-admission rates are much higher. Read Katherine Cohen’s book on how to get into the Ivies.

Might want to look at Holy Cross and Colgate-both very good schools.
