I am a scuba diver and citizen scientist. I am hoping to study ecology or marine biology depending on the school. I have my advanced PADI certification and i am a level 2 REEF surveyor. which means anytime i dive or snorkel i take a survey of the fish or invertabrates i see. I have a lot of extracirriculars but those are my most unique. I have a weighted overALL GPA OF 4.39(my school soent do weighted honors) AND a unweighted of 3.8. I will have taken 14 APs by the end of my senior year and so far i have passed all the tests. Also i have a 28 ACT and i get my sat score in a few days. I hope with thta information you can provide me with tips on how to pitch myself to certain UCs and how to get accepted.
UCs don’t look at SAT/ACT. They are test blind.
You sound like a great student.
As noted above, your test scores won’t matter, as the UCs are test blind.
Also you should compute your three UC-specific GPAs:

The PIQs are your chance to pitch yourself. Use them well.
Both schools have great programs, my daughter was accepted into both. You should consider applying to CCS at UCSB as well (separate application):
Marine Science | UCSB College of Creative Studies
As @worriedmomucb said, you’ll need to calculate your UC GPA’s. You look academically strong and the scuba certification is certainly helpful for your field, and may give you a slight boost, but mostly you’ll want to focus on really strong PIQ’s about your passion for marine science as well as what else makes you a well rounded candidate. This is a good start:
Good luck!
Can you tell me the difference between taking marine bio or bio in the liberal arts dept vs creative studies?
