Will I graduate on time?

Hi! I’m transferring schools next year, fall 2017, and I’m between 3 schools, of which have the program I want, Industrial Design. Most of my AP credits from high school will transfer, and I’m pretty sure my college credits will transfer as well. I’m concerned, though, because the current school I attend doesn’t have Industrial design, I wont be sufficiently prepared once I transfer next year, and I wont graduate on time. I took 2 design courses in high school that I’ll receive AP credit for, and I’m currently taking 2 physics courses, a graphic design course, and a scientific illustration course that I presumed would be at least helpful for when i transfer and begin an Industrial Design curriculum.

I’m mostly concerned that because I haven’t taken any ID specific courses here, I’ll be too ill prepared for when I transfer and I’ll graduate a year late. Is there anything i could do, or anything you would suggest?

You should speak with the universities in question and see if they allow you to take community college classes over the summer to transfer over. That way, you can leave some of your unrelated GE classes for community college, and then take summer courses in between the school years.

You need to address this with each of the universities in question. You may receive different advice that will decide where you choose to transfer.

When you receive your acceptance letter, you might also receive a preliminary evaluation of your transferable credits. Again, different places will accept different credits, and some places will not offer a preliminary evaluation and require that you enroll before having your credits evaluated. So do ask each place about this.

Would you happen to know specifically for RIT or University of Bridgeport?

Also, would it be best to ask now or after I get accepted? I go to a regular 4 year university, not a community college.
