Will I make a good candidate for Brown?

I have been trying desperately to avoid falling in love with Brown, but I think it is too late and now I am just as obsessed as it seems everyone is, and just as nervous. I would be applying as a transfer.

Here are my stats:
High school:

  • Homeschooled, which gave me a very similar curriculum to what Brown would offer. I chose my own courses, and was responsible for doing all of my work. I designed my curriculum in such a way so as to graduate a year early.
  • 3.79 GPA unweighted (would this shortened be 3.7 or 3.8, I am slightly unclear on this.) If it seems relevant I can figure my Weighted GPA as well.
  • No AP courses offered as home school student, but took 7 honors courses.

College

  • Unranked nationally with Newsweek. Top 25 Regional public schools, Top 60 Regional universities, private included. I am attending due to the ability to live with my family and in-state tuition.
  • 4.0 GPA
  • 5 Honors courses of my total 9 courses taken; will try to take all honors courses in Spring, as I will be waiting for Fall or Summer semester to transfer

Hobbies:

  • Piano
  • Art
  • Poetry
  • Playwriting - am writing a play in verse currently
  • Screenwriting - am writing a screenplay for a children’s book, for fun
  • Journalism
  • Study of ancestry (Possibly interesting essay topics: relation to King Henry VIII or being a Daughter of the American Revolution?)

Club Involvement

  • President of French Club
  • Vice president of Debate Club
  • Model UN
  • Young Americans For Liberty
  • Society of International Affairs
  • Circle K Club
  • Up til Dawn
  • History Club
  • Tennis Club
  • Outdoor Pursuits (outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting, camping, etc)
Considering starting a “Dead Poets Society” as a nod toward the movie but mostly as a literature appreciation club.

Volunteer Work:

  • Library
  • Art museum volunteer
  • Daily work at a Humane Society
  • Elephant Sanctuary
  • Orphanage
  • I hope to be able to foster pets if my parents will let me

Work experience:

  • Cashier at Publix, current
  • Local Rec, current
  • Cashier at pizza place, high school
  • Hostess at restaurant, high school
  • Privately commissioned graphic design, high and middle school
  • Internship with Shakespeare company, current
  • Internship with public history museum, current
  • Political campaign internship, upcoming

Unclassified:
Currently starting up 2 non-profit organizations to help issues that I am really passionate about, but cannot give much information on here. Also, hosting an outside-of-school fundraiser for humane society in October. Planning several fundraisers for school pertaining to my club involvement.

Standardized test scores:
1400 M and CR, 2150 total (I know that this may be low for Brown…)

Intended major:
Comparative Literature
If not, History and English double major.
