I am a senior in high school. I have a 4.4 GPA and take all AP and Honors classes. I am student body president, a member of the academic decathlon, debate team, and drama club. I have never been in trouble— until now. Last year I took some information from my older brother’s papers and put them into my own and it has recently been found out. I was on a two day suspension. Are my chances of getting into an Ivy League completely screwed? Thanks!

figure out if you can get this suspension expunged from your record (extremely unlikely)

if not, explain what happened on your application the best you can. Express remorse and talk about what you learned. Make sure to emphasize you will never cheat again.

if all you want is to get into any Ivy League, just apply to Cornell ED where you’ll have the highest chance (although if you just want the “name brand prestige” that comes with going to an Ivy, you should reconsider this carefully)
