Will I waste my time getting A.A. at CC?

I’m going to a CC next fall (also taking 7 credits this summer) and I am wanting to transfer to Michigan State University either after 1 year or 2. I currently live in Illinois and will be living by my self next year and my mom is moving to Michigan and working there. So I will qualify for in-state tuition.

My big concern is, I don’t want to spend two years at this CC and not have most of my credits transfer over, or not get accepted because they won’t. I looked into their transfer equivalency page and it did not look like my CC (Spoon River College in IL) was listed for the requirements of my major (Finance). But I’m not for sure if it’s accurate. So my question is, would I waste my time if I spent two years at my CC?

I’m not sure if I follow, but I do not think it would be a waste of time. Really, it just depends. I am getting my AA and will be transferring and it took me two years. One thing that helped me decide realizing that it didn’t have to be specific (Bio, english, business) I am getting mine in IDS- Math & Science. It is interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in math and science. My counselor just said, look the GE’s you’ve take for your major and to transfer are enough, plus you’ve taken enough math and science - a few more classes and you’ll get a degree. I think for some it makes sense, for others it doesn’t. This was my second time around in college. I thought that if for some reason I don’t finish when I transfer, at least I have an AA to show for it.

I’m just not sure if the classes that are required will transfer over, is my main concern.
