Will juggle for chances!

Hey everybody, so the 3 months of irrational worrying has begun on my part. I would really appreciate if you could chance me to soothe a weary mind.

Wharton!!

34 ACT (35s on Math and Science)
780 US History, 750 Physics, 740 Lit
GPA: 4.13ish W, 3.95ish UW
Top 10%
White from Colorado

Most rigorous curriculum.

ECs: These are really my big thing. I’m very involved in Water Conservation out here in CO. I’ve written and passed legislation concerning it and do all sorts of conservation work and water ecology research in conjunction with a few different organizations. Work covered by the press, talk to municipalities about it, etc.

In addition to this I am very involved in politics and campaigns.
-Policy research intern at the State capitol for the CO House of Reps for 3 years.
-Was a staffer for the RNC and McCain campaign (Dep. Field Director) in 2008. Management, etc. (good Wharton stuff I hope lol)
-Dep. Campaign Manager for a successful State House race out here.

In addition, I have standard stuff like Class President, speech and debate, other clubs.

I thought my essays were good, nothing earth-shattering though. (I liked my 217 a lot tho)
Recs should be good. (1 sup. one from a friend in the CO House of Reps)

My one concern is that I got a B and B+ 1st trimester this year in AP English and AP Calculus this year. They are my only 2 grades ever below my All As (with a smattering of A-s). Those two classes are almost impossible to get As in my school - I had close to, if not the highest grades in them. *How significantly will this hurt do you think?

Please please chance me! (Also applied to Harvard, Princeton, Yale (deferred), Dartmouth, GTown, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, William & Mary, Amherst, and the U of Colorado). Not just the standard “its a crapshoot, you have a good chance” type thing though. Please be honest.

Thanks for your time!

I think you have a decent chance
Don’t worry too much about the B and the B+.

I personally think that given you got your Bs in this past trimester, it might hurt you but not significantly. My only worry is that it might show that you are slipping. But as long as you redeem yourself this time around, you shouldn’t have that much of an issue, given the rigor of your schedule. However, I hope when you say top 10% in your class, that your school is either very competitive, or top 10% but closer to 5%.

You have a good chance as it is. You seem to have a lot of passion for what you do, so good job in that category. I hope the adcoms will think your essays are as good as you say they are :)! You test scores are obviously fine. Best of luck to you.

lol. What about the juggling?

Thank you. Yes, our school does not rank, but I know I am either 1 or maybe 2, but the adcom will only see top 10% :/

And yes, its the #1 school in CO. (Mid/Small private)

nice work for the mccain campaign… I also worked for him here in FL… good luck and hopefully more conservatives will be filling up the ivies the next couple of years

oo and yeah I think you have a good shot especially if you can really display your interest in politics

why not takea math SAT II … ? uh lol - besides that good chance.

^ good luck on filling them up more, they are pretty liberal and prob will stay that way for awhile. id say UPenn is about a high match for you so relle good shot

Yes I feel like I did a good job of brining my passions across (at least I hope so! :p). So with that focus in mind, and all other things being good (test scores, recs, essays, etc.) do my B+ and B in AP Calc and English 1st tri look less significant? Not trying to make excuses, but I feel like it was a combination of the extremely difficult courses and my really big time commitment to the election (many times until 2 or 3 in the morning haha).

I’m pretty sure I can bring these two up at least to the A- level come the end of second trimester (Feb).

Oh and I did take Math II…got a 700…which is blaaa. Didn’t put it on my App but I’ll guess they’ll see it. My thinking was that my 35 on the ACT Math would show them what want to see regarding Math skills.

bumpermuffin please :)

Very good chances. Wharton is pretty difficult though, so you can never know for sure. To be honest, I think you’re a pretty good match for Duke and Georgetown.

P.S. I worked with the Obama campaign.
P.P.S We won :D

Though we may lose, Mavericks never die.

Haha. But I have to admit, Barack’s done pretty well so far. And it was a great day for the U.S and equality given our history. Let’s just hope he doesn’t drop the ball.

^ Amen to that :)

^Amen to that Amen.

^Amen to that Amen to that Amen

conservatives suck
