Will letting them know benefit me?

<p>I am an international and I have recently receive the great news that my petition for resident visa has been accepted! I was wondering if I should let MIT know if it will increase my chances? And if so how should I tell them, email? What about other schools (GA tech, Berkeley, Purdue, U. of illinois, UT Austin)?</p>

<p>If this means you are going to be a permanent resident, then you should let them know.
This makes huge difference, I think.
