Hi everyone! I don’t know where else to turn and I am super frustrated! I am supposed to be attending Virginia Military Institute in the Fall on a 4 year ROTC scholarship. I was accepted to the engineering program there. The only problem is that I have now found that I am terrible at engineering. From junior year until now I have been in a selective college program that only about 30 people from my county (one of the biggest in Virginia) were accepted to called the Academy of Engineering and Technology. I take morning engineering, math, and English classes there. All classes are college level and count for college credit. In my junior year, everyone took a college intro to engineering class. I did fine in this and finished with a high B. This year we began a computer programming class mixed with a solids and static mechanics class. I am terrible at this class. My parents seem to think it is senioritis, but I am truly terrible. So terrible that I am planning on changing my major to International Studies and Political Science (something I’m both good at and extremely interested in) before the start of the Fall semester. I am currently failing. I have gotten tutoring, teacher help, study groups, etc. Nothing seems to work, and it’s going to be hard for me to even come out with a D as my final grade. I am so scared of having my appointment or scholarship revoked I am constantly on the verge of tears. If the school and scholarship board sees that I am changing my major will they understand that I just struggled with the class, or am I in real danger of being revoked? I am a top ranked student and have never had a problem like this! I am so stressed/lost/confused etc. Thank you all!
