Will my admission be rescinded?

I got into Stanford REA. First semester had perfect grades, but this semester I made a huge mistake in a senior-level college math class I’m taking and missed a midterm. This means I’ll either get a C, or if I’m unlucky a D. My other grades will probably all be As. What are the odds Stanford thinks this is a big enough issue to change their mind?

How do you miss a midterm? Seriously…

humble–if you get lucky and wind up with a C, I wouldn’t lose any sleep if the rest of your final grades will be up to par. If it’s gonna be a D, you’d better plan to attach an honest explanation of what happened with an assurance that you’ve learned your lesson and it won’t happen again. You might get some kind of cautionary letter from admissions then, but I don’t think they will rescind for one bad grade if you explain your mistake.

I still have nightmares about missing a final because I don’t know where it is. And I’m not going to tell you how old I am.

I would suggest you get in touch with admissions and let them know what happened. They seem to like to hear about these things as they progress. Plus it will give you a better idea of where you stand. (Also, before you do this, you might consider talking to your teacher to see if she/he would let you make it up, somehow. I mean, clearly you’re a good student.)

Just out of curiosity, why did you miss it? Were you lost or something?

Also, it seems kind of unfair that you couldn’t make it up.
