Hi all! I haven’t been on the forums on CC for a while so…here it goes…
I am graduating from high school a year early and I got into NYU with a fairly decent aid package. When I went for a visit about a month ago I met the Dean of admissions who informed me both that I had been nominated by the adcom who read my application as one of the best applicants of the year and that he would be mentioning me in his speech at NYU’s Weekend on the Square about a week after that visit.
Well now it’s the end of the semester and my grades are rolling in…and I’m scared. I am stellar in everything besides my most recent grades. The main reason is that, in order to graduate early, I took a course load of eight classes a semester. Needless to say this wore me out.
Now I should point out two things before I give you my grades:
- I’m only taking the extra courses because the state refused to accept my Arabic grades as a foreign language (it is not recognized as a foreign language in the Georgia school system.)
- I have amazing credentials in every other category (I wrote two books–one professionally published–I was on national TV and radio, I started an entertainment group for the elderly, I have papers coming out in philosophical journals, I have recommendations and have worked with leading philosophers, among other things) so this is part of the reason I got accepted (I think) in the first place.
Anyhow, after I got accepted to NYU I kinda slacked off this semester with my grades falling to:
D – Online German (I just didn’t do the work, though this might be brought up to a C)
D – Online Psych (I didn’t do the work…at all…though this too might be brought up to a C)
D – AP Physics B (I should not have taken this class…)
C – AP Calc BC (It might be brought back up to a B soon…we’ll see)
A – AP Comp Sci A (The College Board no longer has the AB exam)
A – AP Lang
A – AP European History
C – Latin
I’m really freaking out!!! Will my admission get rescinded!?!
