Will my admissions be taken away?!?!

I was admitted to Washington University early admissions and I was/am VERY excited but now I am worried. This semester I had to miss two weeks of school due to a severe bacterial infection (non sexual), and I ended up missed three tests in one class. The teacher will not let me make up the tests and I currently have a “D”.

Washington University has not asked to see any grades yet, so I am wondering if they look at either your 1st or 2nd semester grades?

that is very unfair: you were sick and you can’t make the tests? at my school, (atleast for some teachers) you can skip class and then just take the test later. the teacher never really even asks if you were sick–not that it matters; the student could always just lie.

anyway, a D is very bad and, if washu does not know the circumstances, they might just very well rescind you.

so you should tell them the circumstances. i think once you do that you’ll be fine =]

also, get a doctor’s note to solidify your case.

You should complain about the teacher, definitely. That is 100% unfair AND arguable. It actually makes zero sense to me. Just go to your guidance office or something. I’m almost sure you will be able to retake them. Unfortunately, the college may not even believe your story, however true, just because it sounds ridiculous. And i agree with ^, get a doctor’s note

be proactive. send a letter explaining the situation before WashU receives your grades.

Yea, I think I’l do all those things. Thanks guys :/

To confirm the above, I would definitely get a doctor’s note, and I would definitely send a letter to WashU explaining the situation before they get your mid-year report. And, if possible, file a complaint at your school about the teacher or something, as that is ridiculous.

Don’t worry about it…they aren’t going to rescind your offer over something like that. They might if you had a drug bust or drunk driving conviction or got caught in a serious cheating ring scandal or something…

Heck they might not even notice the D.

You might drop them a note and explain the circumstances…or you might just let it go and do nothing.

And definitely speak to your schools principal, that teacher can’t get away with something like that. Failing that, have your parents speak to the school board. Your school has stated policies they have to follow regarding sick absences and make-up exams. Don’t you have a handbook or something that spells that all out?

And also…three tests in 2 weeks? That doesn’t sound right…

Oh, yes they will.

As many have said, get in front of this, now. Don’t sit around and wait to hear from WashU. Explain the situation, get a doctor’s note, and get a letter from the (unreasonable) teacher.

I talked to my counselor and he said to just leave the teacher alone because I will still have another semester with him and because he’s tenured. My counselor also said he would write WashU a letter and to have my doctor send a letter. Now I’m pretty confident that my admissions won’t be rescinded. Thank Y’all!!!

I’m glad that the issue looks like it will work itself out. Just make sure to stay on top of it, sometimes counselors get a bit overloaded around this time of year and forget things. Just a thought.

But I think previous posters have neglected to congratulate you for maintaining a D with a 0% on 3 tests. Wash.U. should be similarly impressed after understanding the situation.

I had D’s 1st and 3rd quarters of senior year in calculus on my transcript and still got in/didn’t have my admission rescinded. Didn’t explain anything, though I did have A’s in everything else so my overall GPA was still really high (and I got a C as my final grade).

In case any of you all were still wondering; my teacher was being an EXTREME *******. I got a 100% on the final, he dropped one of the tests and gave me 40 extra credit points. I ended up with a B…sorry for me fretting lol.
