Will my math grades hurt my chances?

My grades:
algebra: 74 (regents exam: 79)
geometry: 74 (regents exam: 67)

Regents exams are state exams in NY that show up on transcripts if you’re not familiar.

I had the same teacher for both classes and she was awful… only 11 out of 29 people in my algebra class passed the course. In geometry I actually had the highest average in the class. Pathetic.
My school has very poor passing rates for math and science regents exams.

For trig alg/2 I have a new teacher, and have a 90 in the class.

Yet I want to be a chemistry major at Penn state… I know math must be a critical factor in this decision. Will these grades dramatically affect my admission?

I have a 3.4 unweighted GPA.
Rank is top quarter.

anyone?
I don’t care if you’re brutally honest

I do not think admissions will “dissect” your GPA and see what grades you got in specific classes. Do your best to pull your GPA up a little to insure admission into UP. PSU reports that the middle 50% GPA of accepted students is 3.52-3.97.
