Hello, I am in high school at the moment and am looking for an answer to my question. When you take a college class while in high school, you receive a weighted grade for it like an AP class. I am currently in a college class, but have found out it is not UC transferable, and I want to apply to UC’s. (specifically Berkeley) I would want to retake the class at the UC regardless if it was UC transferable or not, but I’m concerned that I won’t get any grade weight at all and I would be working hard for nothing. I have a low-ish gpa so this is why I am concerned.

I believe the title of your post answers your question. UC only recognizes UC approved courses and only calculates UC approved courses for purposes of GPA.

Call UC Berkeley and ask them - really.
<a href=“A-G Policy Resource Guide”>A-G Policy Resource Guide;
Use that site to look up your course and see if UC will consider it. Generally, they look at your 10-11 a-g courses to calculate your UC GPA. They do see your complete transcript so it’s not quite accurate to say they won’t consider it.

If you have a ‘low-ish GPA’ - you really need to broaden your horizon. Unless you have a story or are an athlete, UCB is going to require 4+ GPA. Go ahead and apply but, have a plan B, C, D and E at the ready.
