Will my school allow this?

I will be a junior next year. We will be choosing classes for next year soon and I plan to take the following courses:

Hon English III
Pre Cal
AP Stats
CP Chemistry
Physiology
AP Art History
French II

Senior Year:

AP English IV
AP Cal
AP Bio
AP Chem
AP Physics
AP Gov/Economics
French III

(Yes, I am aware that my foreign language isn’t impressive in the least, but I do have a good reason, which I won’t waste your time explaining)

The guidance counselors at our school are unfortunately known for not giving us the classes we request. For example, I requested a full load this year, however they still placed m3 in a study hall. This is not due to my grades. I have a gpa of 4.0 and work very hard for it. I plan on applying to several competitive schools and if they do not give me the classes I request, it will no doubt hurt my chances.

Do you think they will deny my request of 3 AP Science courses senior year? Or the amount of APs in general? I am in only one AP class this year (APUSH), however, that is because that is the ONLY AP course offered to sophomores at our school. (It is a junior course, however, some of us were exceptions due to our high grades in the general course.)

If they deny the courses I request is there anything I can do to override it? I really want to make my course selections as competitive as possible.

Thanks for the input!!

I wouldn’t recommend taking all three AP sciences in one year even if you could. Perhaps you could self study one of them junior year to sort of even out the load because all three of those tests are difficult and time consuming.

why would you tryhard your senior year?

I agree with bananafreak2u. I don’t think it is wise for you to take 3 AP sciences especially if you’re going to take all of those other AP’s.

“For example, I requested a full load this year, however they still placed m3 in a study hall. This is not due to my grades.”

Presumably this is because some of the classes you wanted to take were filled to capacity, or occurred during a period in which you had another class. It’s not possible to put everyone in the classes they want to take.

Just request the courses you want to take and see what happens. If there are problems in your schedule, go down to the guidance office and see if you can get something else in place of the study hall.

Take only two AP science exams, preferable AP Chem and AP Bio which connect together…Do not take AP Bio and AP Physics together, you will burn out even if you are a good student because one is extremely math heavy while the other is more reading-intensive.

You shouldn’t worry about not getting the courses you like, as a rising junior your class decisions take precedence over everyone else.
