well… i was looking at some prep books… seems to be a lot of algebra.

Now… im about to buy a ti-89… and from what i understand i will be able to use the ti-89 to solve most algebra problems with little effort.

you couldnt simply plug the problems in on your calculator and solve them with the old sat math… but now it looks like you would be able to… making it much easier. plus i hope the curve will be better thanks to all the kids who arent very good with math.

what do you guys think? am i mistaken about being able to plug the problem into your calc and solving it?

SAT math does not work like that. This could be a formula for disaster. Learn the underlying principles and techniques instead, and you will be much better off.

ti89 would suck for the newsat or oldsat alike. it takes a little more button pushing to do the basic stuff. also, solver won’t help at all. they give basic algebra stuff. However, the ti89 can do lcm, gcf, and stuff lotta stuff like that but so can the ti83

i think the curves for the new SAT math and the old SAT math are gonna stay the same. That’s what happened on the PSAT, and the makers of the new SAT probably designed the test so the curve doesn’t change much.

dont use your calc for everything…there are going to be problems where you will waste time typing in solve, 2x=2 or something, so try to do everything by hand first

I think calculators are going to be just as helpful as they were before. Usually it seems in the stadardized tests, on like the math IIC subjects, the things you have been learning for a while are sophisticated, like algebra, while the stuff you recently learned is straightforward, like trig and limits.
