Will not taking SAT Math II hurt my chances?

Hi everyone. I’m applying to UCSD, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford and USC for molecular biology (and similar majors for each school). I took Math Analysis in sophomore year when I was unaware of SAT subject test requirements and I regret not taking it then because now it’s been over a year since I’ve taken pre calc and I’ve forgotten most of the content. I’m retaking the SAT I this Saturday and if I absolutely MUST take Math II I’ll take it in December. Will a little less than 2 months be ample time to review algebra, geometry and pre calc?

Here are my stats:

SAT I: CR: 740 Math: 680 Writing: 730
SAT II: Bio M: 730, US History: 700

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.39
UC GPA: 4.40

Rank: 4 of 602

AP Exams:

5’s: Calc AB, Bio, World History, US History
4: English lit.

Volunteer hours: 215 (Mostly hospital, church, tutoring, charity shows)

Extra Curriculars
Concert/ Show choir (4 years)
Advanced Dance Team (2 years, Treasurer)
National Honor Society (4 years, Secretary, President)
CSF (4 years, Secreatary, President)
VEX Robotics Team (1 year)
Academic Decathlon (2 years, Captain)
Associated Student Body ( 1 year)

If you study most days, and then do more on the weekends, two months will be plenty. It comes back to you quickly. As for your original question, I think you should take the Math II, since you want to go into a STEM major, schools like to see Math scores.

I think Stanford requires the Math 2 for all applicants. My daughter, who doesn’t love math, but is applying to Stanford and a few other schools that require the Math 2 subject test, is going to be suffering thru that test this Saturday. If you want to be considered for Cal, Stanford, or USC, definitely take the test. I think there’s an earlier sitting if you’re worried about getting your scores in time. It won’t take you two months to prepare. Just get a study book and spend a long hellish weekend with it!
