<p>I’m a high school sophomore and am planning out my next two years of high school.
Assuming my scores on the PSAT, ACT, and 4-5 SAT II tests are high enough, will not taking the SAT hurt my chances of getting into the Ivies?
Mind you, I’m also taking 12+ AP tests, and the non-academic portion of my resume is strong as well.</p>

<p>You don’t need the SAT if you have a good ACT score and vice versa. However, if you want to qualify for National Merit Scholarship, which depends first on PSAT score and then SAT score, you will need to take SAT. Taking 4 to 5 SAT IIs is also not recommended. Most that require IIs require two of them, and some (Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown) require three. If you get three good scores, you should stop taking them; reason: many consider highest two (or three) SAT II scores, but some, if you submit more than those required, will consider all scores PARTICULARLY any low scores, meaning you can harm your chances of admission by taking more and getting low scores if you already have good scores but submitting more good scores really won’t add to your chances of admission.</p>
<p>don’t take more than 3 SATIIs…i personally think it looks kinda neurotic and like you have nothing better to do with your time than study and take tests.
the most schools require is 3…so I would really recommend taking three at most. </p>
<p>I am a big believer in taking these tests once and then if your not happy doing it one more time. If you get a good ACT score don’t even bother with the SAT…you have better things to be doing at 7 on a saturday morning…AKA sleeping.</p>
