Hi. I’m a high school senior. I’ve had good grades all throughout high school. My cumulative gpa on the transcript that was sent out to colleges is a 94.96. I have a 2200 on the SATs. I have done organic chemistry research, have many extracurriculars, and have been in many honors societies (Arista, Archon, Science Honors Society). In my high school, senior year is known as a bridge year and all seniors must take a freshman humanities and a elective at a college nearby, and the grades will be on the high school transcript. I’m in danger of getting an F for my humanities class this fall semester. My college elective grade is still around an A/B. I will definitely work harder and will bring up my humanities class grade during the spring semester to an A/B. I’m just scared that the one F will ruin my chances of getting into a good college, such as NYU, Columbia, Barnard. Will colleges ask me to explain this grade in a letter or will they not accept me because of this F on my mid-year report. I’m really worried.

Thank you so much for the help.
