<p>I have a hypothetical question. My son’s FAFSA said he may be eligible for a $2000 Pell Grant. He has also applied for lots of private scholarships (with no wins yet). Say he got a $2000 Pell Grant, then later won a $2000 private scholarship. Would the Pell Grant be taken away then? There are no loans involved yet (and we are trying to keep it that way). If we did get a student loan I would hope that they would reduce the amount of the loan with a private scholarship and let him keep the grant also. I guess my general question is - do you lose a Pell Grant if you get a private scholarship for the same dollar amount? Then how does it all work if you also have loans involved? Just wondering… Thanks!</p>
