Will PSU offer admission to second choice campus, or will they simply deny the application?

Title says it all—If I pick UP as first choice, Altoona as second choice—if stats are low for UP, I’m assuming that everything is possible–they could offer admission directly to Altoona, they could deny the application outright. Is this correct?

The branch campuses have much lower mid-50 for SAT and GPA, so how are these decisions made? Obviously they can’t offer admission to all 80k applications they receive.

If you are within the commonwealth campus admission stats, then they will offer you admission to that campus. It is rare for someone to be denied from both UP and a commonwealth campus. They used to not require a back up campus though so that made it easier. Now that they do, I’m not sure how they will handle that. But in general, if you had stats close to UP but didn’t make it, but your stats were within the commonwealth campus, they will accept you to the commonwealth.
