<p>Will taking AP Microeconomics in my junior year increase my chances of getting into the Olin business school of the Washington University at St Louis?
In my freshman year I took Algebra I (and got an A+), in my sopho I took geometry (and got an A+), in my junior year I am going to take Honors Algebra II and in my senior I’ll take Honors PreCalc. WashU recommends taking Calculus for business majors (I am applying for International Relations or Entrepreneurship, so Calculus won’t be as important as in Accounting or Finance.)
Would you recommend me to take AP Microeconomics in my junior year to increase my chances?? Or should I take PreCalc in summer school so I can take AP Calculus AB in my senior? Will I have time to inform them that I’ll be taking AP Calculus??
Which do you think will increase my chances, AP Microeconomics or AP Calculus?

<p>I would say don’t take precalc over the summer because you might damage your transcript by going into AP Calc, a challenging course, without the essential information needed. AP Micro would definitely show some interest in your major area</p>

<p>It’s good to have a clear idea of what you want to major in, because then you’ll just take the classes that are relevant to it.</p>
<p>Since the college you’re looking at recommends AP Calculus, of course, it doesn’t mean you HAVE to do it, but you’re better off taking it. If you think you can handle AP Calc over the summer, then go ahead. But in my opinion, Calculus takes time to handle and sometimes summer might seem a bit short.</p>
