I have the common app essay on prompt #4 ,Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?‘’ finished. I wrote about my feelings, thoughts, and impressions while playing on the basketball court. Right now I’m about to finish the Penn State application online and there is optional essay with this prompt: ,Please tell us something about yourself, your experiences, or activities that you believe would reflect positively on your ability to succeed at Penn State. This is your opportunity to tell us something about yourself that is not already reflected in your application or academic records. We suggest a limit of 500 words or fewer.‘’. Do you guys think my common app essay will fit into that prompt? What if my common app essay is 640 words long? Is that going to affect my application negatively?

Yes the topic could fit the Penn State prompt, though you might have to make a few adjustments. If the limit is 500 words, you should shorten your essay to fit. There are probably some sentences that could go, and get rid of unnecessary words.

Thank you. Do I have to mention some reasons why I think I will be successful at Penn State? If it’s not, I will just submit my shortened common app essay.
