Will they let me submit one faculty rec late?

Hello!

Do you guys know whether Harvard and Cornell allow applicants to submit their recs later? Let me explain. I really need some help with this:

I am at a large quarter system college. We take 3 classes each quarter. Our professors, therefore, don’t always teach each quarter and usually only one class when they do. So far I took 4 classes in my major and had 3 different professors for those (W, S, and C). I didn’t like S and never really got to know him. I tried to get to know W and took her class this Fall for that, but she proved so impersonal and isolated that using her for a rec would be a suicide. I’m pretty close with C. I had him last Spring for a big class, however, so he never got to see my work or to actually work with me in a classroom environment. I couldn’t take him in the Fall, because he only taught a grad course, so I am taking him again in the Winter Quarter for a smaller class. Also, I am taking a new prof in my field, L. I really want to use her as my second rec writer, however, since the quarter beings on Jan. 3rd and the aps for Harvard are due Jan. 15th, I can’t really ask her for a rec after only a month, you know? Also, even for C’s class, the midterms might not even be graded in time for the ap to be submitted.

I know that my application will not be completed until I send in my Winter quarter grades (late March), right? So do you think Harvard and Cornell would let me submit my recs after the 15th (at least L’s)? If so, how do I ask them about it?

Thanks so much!
