I’m a transfer student who got accepted into UCLA, but the courseload I said I would take on my application is a lot less rigorous than the one I actually ended up taking. Since I already completed all my GE requirements and I’m working 16+ hours/week (plus the English class I said I would take isn’t being offered), I’m just taking 2 classes for my major (music history) at 2 different colleges and a yoga class, which makes me a part-time student at 2 different schools.

My question is, will they revoke my admission because I’m not taking a lot of hard classes this quarter? It’s too late for me to sign up for new classes now. I already notified the admissions board of these changes yesterday and have yet to hear back. I have a 3.90 GPA and was a full-time student every quarter since Fall 2011.

Well, I’m not a transfer student, but I don’t think they will revoke acceptance if your courses are not difficult. I do know that if we let our grades slip and recieve a C in any class, they can revoke acceptance. So as long as you maintained a good GPA this quarter I think you’ll be fine!

They can certainly revoke your admission offer if part of the reason they accepted you is because of what you said you would be taking in the spring semester. For transfers, it’s not so much about rigor as it is about requirements. Is that English class you aren’t taking the 2nd transferable English requirement? Because if it is, they will probably revoke your admission because you are not UC-eligible without it. But if it’s just some random course that isn’t an admissions requirement or a major requirement, then it probably won’t matter. But still report it, because the earlier you report it, the easier it is for them to give you a provision (i.e. take that class in summer and get at least a B and we won’t revoke your admissions offer).

Basically they admitted a student they thought was taking one set of courses, but you actually took another. You were supposed to report changes as soon as you knew about them.

Since you already have your GE’s completed you should still be eligible for admission, but if they took your coursework into account when deciding then they may reverse their decision. I sure hope not!
