<p>I had my AP English teacher do my rec even though I plan to go into a scientific field. I felt as if she had the greatest measure of my ability, so I had her do my rec instead of one of my science teachers. Will this affect my chances?</p>
<p>most colleges actually view this positively. while science may be your focus area, it is important that you can succeed in all subjects.

<p>Agreed. Chill. A good rec from anyone is what you want. It sounds like you chose her for the right reason.</p>
<p>I got my rec from my AP English teacher as well and I got admitted ED if that counts. AP English teachers, in most cases, have mastered the art of presentation with their words; whereas, many science teachers probably can’t explain your qualities with comparative diction and style.</p>
<p>I’d rather have an excellent recommendation from an English teacher rather than a so so recommendation written by a science teacher.</p>
